About Sakonyama Kindergarten
Greetings from the principal
Welcome to Sakonyama Kindergarten.
Our kindergarten was founded in 1970 and is now in its 57th year. Currently, we have two senior classes and one middle class.
We have a total of six classes: two regular classes, one class for younger children, and one class for children who have just turned three.
From birth until entering kindergarten, children are raised under the protection of their families. At kindergarten, their first school, they grow up teaching and learning from their friends. What we value most in order to foster children's development is to provide each child with a strong sense of security through careful childcare in a bright, home-like atmosphere. When children feel secure and find their place in the world, they can express themselves vividly and interact with their friends. All staff members involved with the kindergarten, including teachers, staff, administrative staff, nurses, and bus drivers, strive every day to create and maintain an environment where children can feel safe and secure.
Children who arrive at the nursery in the morning with anxious expressions and tears in their eyes will leave with big smiles on their faces.
We sometimes hear stories of children feeling unwell when they are unable to attend kindergarten for extended periods, such as during long holidays. Kindergarten is a place where children feel safe and healthy.
Our kindergarten has a very fortunate playground with plenty of sunshine. During free play time, you can see the children running around and laughing. There is a saying, "Knowledge, virtue, and physical fitness."
The idea is to nurture intellectual, moral, and physical development in a balanced way, but at our kindergarten, we reverse the order and aim to instill "body, morality, and intellect" in our children. First and foremost is a healthy body, from which morality (self-esteem and respect for others) is born, and intellect (intellectual curiosity) is nurtured. To that end, in addition to letting the children play freely in our spacious playground, we use the heated swimming pool of a nearby sports club during the summer to provide swimming instruction. Swimming is known as a sport that can be started from a young age with few injuries. Furthermore, the older and middle-aged children have a gymnastics class once a week as part of their regular curriculum, which has become one of the children's favorite activities.
Social life in kindergarten is an encounter with human diversity. By growing up among various friends, children discover the differences between themselves and others, and by recognizing the individuality of each person, they become kinder. When they see someone in trouble, they will develop feelings of compassion and be able to take action. Furthermore, through interactions with others, we hope that they will develop a strong sense of self-esteem, also known as confidence. This is the unfounded confidence of "I can do it!" Whether or not they have confidence changes their attitude towards things, and it will become a great force that will allow them to soar in their long lives ahead. Early childhood is an incredibly important period in a person's life, and we hope that children will feel safe and secure in this environment.
We hope to continue being a kindergarten where children can make many discoveries, have wonderful encounters, and spend their days in a joyous atmosphere.
